The Writers Network of South Florida Presents Poetry Noir with Anastasia Clark
Broward County Poet-in-Residence Anastasia Clark leads a workshop in Poetry Noir on July 20 at the Main Library.
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, July 15, 2011 /Entertainment PR News/ -- The Writers' Network of South Florida presents a discussion and mini-workshop about Poetry Noir with Broward County Poet-in-Residence Anastasia Clark.
Poetry Noir is poetry inspired by the 1940s and 1950s. The movie, Sunset Boulevard, is an example of Film Noir. The discussion will include some examples of Poetry Noir, as well as items such as posters and other props evocative of that era and style of writing. Participants will be asked to create Poetry Noir. Participants should bring a notepad, pen/pencil.
The program will be held on July 20, 2011 from 6:30 - 8:00 PM at the Broward County Main library, 6th floor. The main library is located at 100 S. Andrews Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301
The program is free and open to the public.
About Anastasia Clark
Anastasia Clark is the author of several full-length poetry books: published by Sun Rising Poetry Press: Vagabond Pond (2006), Skeletons and Other Complaints( 2004), Bloodsongs (2004) and Grieving With Poetry ( 2004). About the Writers' Network of South Florida
The prime purpose of the Writers' Network of South Florida (www.writersnetworksofla.org) is to inform, encourage, and support its members in all fields of writing. The Writers Network sponsors an Annual Writing Contest in various genres, culminating in a Spring Gala at which winners are announced and cash prizes are awarded. In addition the Writers' Network provides scholarships for writing workshops offered by the Florida Center for the Book at the Broward County Library. Monthly meetings of the group provide individual speakers, who share information concerning the conception and publication of their work, and panels, which discuss topics of interest, such as marketing, electronic publishing, contracting for movie or foreign rights, obtaining an agent and working with an editor.
